It was calming… soothing… for once… I just wanted to stay frozen in time, doing nothing but listening to that melody.

"Pearl? Are you awake?"

Light blue eyes looked down at the blonde who was on the couch resting his eyes. In Sinnoh, Twinleaf town, Diamond and Pearl were watching over the Manaphy and Phonie for the day. Throughout the day Pearl kept writing notes about the pokemon, trying to study it further as Diamond fed it and played with it.

"Y-yeah, sorry must have dozed off." the blonde gently rubbed his eyes and noticed the two pokemons sleeping as well. His best friend was holding a tray of snacks for everyone.

The dark blue haired boy handed Pearl a drink with a snack. Gently sitting down at the awakening blonde's side. Pearl grabbed his snack and began to eat in the silence, his mind was still in the dream he had just now, more of a memory, all smashed together. Diamond had picked up on his friend's discomfort and waited till Pearl asked him or told him something.

The image of a younger Diamond smiling flashed by his mind and soon was replace with the memory of Diamond glaring at him, shattering his world. In all honesty, Pearl wanted to distance himself from Diamond, which is why he had no problem in splitting up. He wanted to leave and run away from him. Pretend his time with him never existed.

However, before he made the terrible mistake. He stopped running and thought for a moment. Though now the boy was awkward around his best friend, the blonde would try and spend his life making things up to Diamond. The smile he used to where before it was replaced with a fake one. That sincere smile is what he wanted.

"Hey…"

"Yeah?"

Pearl stare at the ground, hoping he wasn't going to far by asking his question. "Do you still have that piano…?"

From the corner of his eyes, the blonde glanced at Diamond, watching his reaction to the mention of the instrument. What he saw was shock on the boy's face. That was soon replaced with a smile of kindness. "Mom moved it up to the attic."

The next question in his mind was hesitate. "Can I……… can I play it?"

Ding….

The blonde's fingers trembled. It has been much to long, he wondered if he can even still play. Diamond watched him, his eyes fixated on the big beautiful white piano in front of him. Both hands in the air, ghostly longing to touch the keys. What he wants is the last seven years back. What he want is to make up for everything now.

Try to mend the past by handling the present.

Di…. Ding…. Diiiinng….

His hands were now on the keys. Pressing them. Slowly, fearfully, his fingers started to move gently, hovering over the keys, playing a tune he always hummed tom himself, a tune Diamond was fond of. One key, after another, the boy of emotion eye's swelled up in size. Pearl was now more confident with his reaction, and restarted the song, playing as if he was playing his whole life.

Time stopped. Pearl was mentally sent back to the past, the past where Diamond, and his two parents with their pokemons, dance all together, as Pearl played a song on the piano, watching them as Chahiko would sing with a few other pokemons. Pearl's own family was broken up, separated, he tried to have a normal family, even if it was broken. However he failed to achieve that goal.

And began to live alone in his little track where he runs around in circles, forever stuck in a runt he willingly did not want to leave.

The smile one the young Diamond's face, a smile he hasn't seen in seven long years. He was only playing with a couple of fingers, he wanted to go all out, really lose himself in the melody. He was shock himself an instrument such as this can stop time and slow him down with it's calming melody.

It all started when the blonde overheard Diamond's father playing, he slowly learned from the master, and even had his own keyboard back at home. He played when he can, as much as he can, loving the sound. He played for others and loved how they would feel refresh.

The boy's eyes closed slowly, fingers still roaming, pressing on the keys of the piano, listening to the sound each key brought.

Once he had open his eyes, he was greeted with a smile. A smile he longed to see on his best friend's face. His fingers stopped, in the middle of the song. The smile he would kill to see was in front of him. It was as if the Boy of Emotions was saying 'I don't mind. Let's just be friends.' Pearl.

Even if he wasn't saying or hinting that, Pearl believed it to be so. "Orah… Pearl, why'd you st-aah!"

With a loud thud, Diamond was tackled to the ground, the blonde was on top of him, or rather, laying on him, shoulders trembling, signaling the blonde on top was silently crying onto his shoulders. Seven years ago, he had let it slide, and the cycle repeated, Diamond always being there for Pearl, being a shoulder for him, and Pearl never acknowledging his sadness.

Diamond knew Pearl was now trying to acknowledge it, trying to make it up now, he wasn't sure how things would end at this rate, though he knew the blonde was spilling tears of regret and guilt meaning he would try to put the effort.. "Just…."

The Boy of Will struggled to get up, sitting down, his elbow on his knee, and his hand covering his face trying to regain his composure, he didn't have the right to break down anymore. And yet the tears wouldn't stop falling. The mixed emotions in his heart was overwhelming, as soon as his best friend wrapped his hands around the blonde. The unspoken words he cut himself off from saying was now heard.

"Just.. One last time… let it slide…"

Soon Diamond let go, and stood up, sitting back down on the piano. Pearl watched him, confused by his action. "Pearl, I was listening to that~"

Quickly understanding what he meant, the blonde nodded and sat back down on the piano, taking a breath and moved his fingers over the keys, playing the song he was just playing for his best friend. "Ahaha, the pokemons are now dancing." it was true, their teams were dancing around all silly.

"Of course they would, Pokemons dance to beautiful melodies~!"

Pearl chuckled at his friend, pretending like nothing had happened just now. "It's just a 'Ding!' after another you know!"

"They're wonderful 'Ding~!' 's being played by a wonderful pianist~"

Pearl's fingers had almost rammed into the keys. "Not wonderful! I'm no where close!"

Diamond chuckled taking a bite from his snack he brought with him. "That's what they all say~"

Daww I was reading this and it's just beautiful it made me feel better after reading this.

Sorry my comments probably suck and aren;t too good sorry I don't know too much when it comes to taking a deep look into writing but the interactions between the characters were adorable and even though he didn't talk too much I got a good feel for Dia's character.
